SIMA LABS provides advanced Activated Sludge Process (ASP) Plants designed for efficient treatment of sewage and industrial wastewater. This process utilizes air and a biological floc composed of bacteria and protozoa to break down organic pollutants. Wastewater is aerated in a specially designed basin, where microorganisms metabolize suspended and dissolved organic matter. A portion of this matter is converted into new microbial cells, while the rest is oxidized into carbon dioxide and water, generating energy. The newly formed biomass settles in clarifiers as flocculent sludge. A controlled portion of this settled sludge, known as activated sludge, is recycled back into the aeration tank to sustain the biological process, while the excess sludge is removed as waste.
